Objective
Create a name, identity, design, and collateral for a concept hotel located in Kihei, Maui with a target audience of travel and nature enthusiasts ranging from 26-36 years old.  Straying away from corporate hotels and resorts, The Alana was envisioned to be an intimate boutique hotel tucked away off the coast that payed homage to the Hawaiian culture and their traditions.

Approach
The Alana's visual identity is inspired by a vintage aesthetic and color palette that is reminiscent of the 50's & 60's with nods to the Hawaiian culture and lingo.  The designs were crafted with retro colors and elements but with a fresh and modern take to evoke nostalgia and the laid-back atmosphere of hotel & island.

Merchandise
When designing The Alana's merchandise, the goal was to stay true to the island's laid-back vibe and lifestyle while still emodying the personality and brand of the hotel.  The totebag was a no-brainer and the perfect accessory for the beach or swap meet, while the trucker hat adds a bit of nostalgia with not only the hat itself but the logo crest, adding to the retro vibes of The Alana.
